Hang in there, Ryan

So, I think it’s way to early for any kind of finger pointing.  Ryan Dempster is struggling on the mound.  It happens, he’s a professional and he’ll get through it.

I’m not going into details, but he gave up a lot of runs in yesterday’s loss to the Rockies.  Colorado is the best in the league, so I’m not worried.

However, Starlin Castro and Darwin Barney continue to impress just about everyone.  Castro had 4 AB with 2 runs and 3 hits.

I think too much is expected of Dempster. He had one great season, got PAID like a star, then was expected to dial that in every year. Too much.

I like Dempster a lot. maybe it’s the Canadian connection but he’s a good pitcher. However, he’s not in the same category as Halliday, lee, Lincecum. He’s a workhorse pitcher. We’ll see.

It happens, he’s a professional and it sounds like he acknowledges this is a problem and is working to find his groove – which is a lot more hopeful than if he were shrugging it off, I think. There’s a lot to be said for workhorse pitchers over the course of the season.
